Black Democrats’ Soulfood Festival Is Saturday August 18th, Noon to 3 p.m.

The New Britain Black Democratic Club will hold its annual Soulfood Festival on Saturday, August 18th, from noon to 3 p.m.

The event, one of the culinary highlights of the year for New Britain Democrats, will be held at Spottswood AME Zion Church, 25 Crestwood Lane. Tickets are $15.

On the menu will be traditional Southern cuisine including fried chicken, barbecued ribs, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, string beans, corn bread and sweet potatoes. Desserts include cakes, pies and peach cobbler.

The Black Democratic Club will holds its Soulfood Festival at Spottswood Church on Saturday, August 18th. In photo at right are Black Dems’ President and former Alderwoman Shirley Black and State Senator Terry Gerratana.

The Black Democratic Club, led by President Shirley Black and Vice President Alton Brooks, holds forums on civic issues and the importance of voting and promotes voter registration drives.
