New Britain Democrats will complete endorsements for the state election this week with conventions for the 6th State Senate district, Judge of Probate and at a Town Committee meeting for state representative districts within the city.
On Monday, May 21st, at 6 pm, State Senator Terry Gerratana is seeking the endorsement for a new term at the convention involving delegates from Berlin, New Britain and part of Farmington. Senator Gerratana, elected in a 2011 special election, is Senate Co-Chair of the Public Health Committee. The convention is being held at the Five Churches Brewery, 193 Arch Street.
Judge of Probate Walter Clebowicz, on the bench for the district of Berlin that includes New Britain, is seeking a new, four-year term to serve on the court at a multi-town convention on Wednesday, May 23rd to be held at the Pulaski Democratic Club, 89 Grove Street at 6:30 pm. He has been the Probate Judge since 1991.
The Democratic Town Committee will meet Thursday, May 24th, at 7 p.m. at New Britain City Hall, 27 West Main Street, Room 504. State Rep. Bobby Sanchez seeks re-election from the 25th district and State Rep. Peter Tercyak is running for a new term for the 26th. Town Committee members from the assembly districts will make the endorsements.
The Party Primary election date is August 14th and the General Election is November 6th this year as voters go to the polls for US Senator, Congress, Governor and all state offices.
