It was a busy weekend for New Britain’s Democrats but we are proud to work hard to represent our diverse community.
On Saturday, State Representative Bobby Sanchez was joined by the entire New Britain delegation to dedicate a monument to the 65th Borinqueneers Infantry Unit. Representative Sanchez, working with the New Britain Latino Coalition, secured land and funding for this monument which honors veterans from the last segregated military unit in the U.S. military.
On Sunday, New Britain’s Polish community hosted its annual Little Poland Festival which drew huge crowds, including visitors from around the country. Several New Britain City Council members were honored as dignitaries, along with our State House and Senate representatives. Council President Pro Tempore Eva Magnuszewski gave a welcoming address (in Polish) thanking everyone for attending. She also introduced the New Britain City Council to the Polish community and encouraged everyone to enjoy the festival.
Yesterday, 4-term Democratic Alderman Emmanuel “Manny” Sanchez announced his candidacy for the 5th Congressional District. Describing his campaign, Manny said ““I’m running because Connecticut families need help. I will advocate for working families, for equal protection for all, for equal opportunity for all and to ensure we have an economy that works for all and not just a select few.”
