A New Britain Reception in support of Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty will be held Wednesday, October 22nd, from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Cafe Beauregard, 2 Main Street. Chief Wardwell Will Discuss Privacy Rights and Technology In Law Enforcement At Wednesday Public Forum

On Wednesday, Oct. 29 at the New Britain Police Department Community Room there will be a discussion on law enforcement, technology, the Fourth Amendment and privacy rights with New Britain Police Chief James Wardwell and David McGuire, staff attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut.

Police can now track your movements with license plate scanners, cellphone location data and GPS. Soon they’ll have drones, too. Privacy rights advocates and law enforcement officials are are now seeking appropriate ways to  align the new technology with our right to and expectation of privacy.

The discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the New Britain police station, 10 Chestnut Street, New Britain. It is sponsored by the ACLU of Connecticut and its Greater Hartford chapter and is free and open to the public.

October DTC Meeting Thursday 10/23

The Democratic Town Committee will hold its October meeting on Thursday, October 23rd at 7 p.m. in Room 305 at New Britain City Hall. On the agenda will be mobilization plans for November 4th and committee reports. All Democrats are welcome.

Chairman’s Breakfast: Bacon, Eggs and Democrats Thursday 10/30

A Chairman’s  Breakfast will be held Thursday, October 30th, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Roma Sports Bar & Grill, 382 Allen Street. Join New Britain Democrats five days before Election Day in support of the Row B slate and a strong turnout in 2014 with our candidates and Democratic leaders.
