Ward 5 Neighbor Palm CardHelp Get Out The Vote For Row B On Tuesday

A special election for the two aldermanic seats in Ward 5 will be held Tuesday, January 7th in a court-ordered re-vote of the November election. Democrats Carlo Carlozzi and Roy Centeno are seeking to sustain the results of the fall election when Ward 2 ballots were mistakenly delivered to the DiLoreto School and used by 17 voters.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Polling Places include:

LWV Hosts  Legislative Brunch With Lawmakers  January 11th: Legislature Opens February 5th

The New Britain Area League of Women Voters (LWV) is holding the 2014 Legislative Brunch on Saturday, January 11th at 10 a.m. at the New Britain Public Library’s Community Room on High Street.

New Britain’s Legislative delegation, including State Reps. Betty Boukus (22), Rick Lopes (24), Robert Sanchez (25), Peter Tercyak (26) and State Senator Terry Gerratana (6),  have been invited to speak  about their work in the upcoming session.  Coffee, tea and brunch foods will be served.  There is no charge for the event.

The Connecticut General Assembly is scheduled to convene in a short session on February 5th and conclude business in early May this year when Connecticut will vote for Governor, state constitutional officers, Congress and state legislature.

Board of Assessment Appeals Organizes For New Term

The three-member Board of Assessment Appeals held its organizational meeting on December 18th for a new term and set a schedule for appeals of motor vehicle and real property assessments for the year.  Elected for the new term were Democrats Mario Santos and John McNamara and Republican Mary Lou Sanders.  McNamara will serve as Chair of the panel that will hold hearings in March (motor vehicles) and September (real property) this year.

May 6-27: Period for Party Endorsements at conventions including Governor/ Lt. Governor, Secretary of the State, Treasurer, Comptroller and Attorney General, Congress and multi town Legislative (State Senate, State Representative Districts 22 and 24) and Judge of Probate candidates.

May 20-27: Endorsements for State Representative Districts 25 and 26.

August 12, 2013:  Party Primary Date

November 4, 2014 : Election Day
