The City of New Britain officially recognized residents of Puerto Rican heritage with a flag raising in Central Park in front of City Hall on July 5th. Mayor Tim O’Brien issued a proclamation declaring Saturday July 6th State Rep. Bobby Sanchez Day.
Sanchez was the honoree at the Festival’s dinner on Friday with legislative colleagues, city officials, Democratic Town Committee members and friends in attendance.
The 24th State Representative is Vice Chair of the Democratic Town Committee and formerly served on the Board of Education.
The Puerto Rican Society Festival will be held today on High Street under warm and sunny skies.
