Berlin’s Rep. Joe Aresimowicz Fundraiser, Sunday, 9/23 at Pine Loft
The Committee for State Rep. Joe Aresimowicz (D-30) will hold a fund-raising party for his re-election for the district that include Berlin and part of Southington on Sunday, September 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The event will be held at The Pine Loft, 1474 Berlin Turnpike in Kensington.
Like his colleagues in the New Britain delegation, Aresimowicz is participating in the Citizens Election Program “I remain committed to removing special interest money from politics and am participating in the Citizen’s Election Program, Aresimowicz told supporters, I will not accept money for my reelection campaign from political action committees (PACs) or state contractors.” To qualify state representative candidates must raise individual contributions of $100 or less and obtain donations from at least 150 residents of the towns they represent.
Next Council Meeting: 9/26 With Public Participation at 7 p.m.
The Common Council will meet on Wednesday, September 26th at City Hall’s Council Chamber. The Council meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month in Council Chambers at City Hall, except in July, Aug, Nov and Dec. when there is a meeting only on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
In coming weeks the Council will be dealing with projected revenue shortfalls in the current fiscal year to maintain existing services. New revenue sources will have to be identified to avoid cuts to existing municipal services and to address the need for an adequately staffed police force. Public participation starts at 7 p.m. at all regular meetings.
