Town Committee Meets Thursday, 8/30: Fall Campaign To Begin

The Democratic Town Committee will meet Thursday, August 30th, at 7 p.m. at New Britain City Hall.

On the agenda will be Get Out The Vote plans and a schedule for the fall campaign, a voter registration update and an update on downtown revitalization and economic development in the city. All Democrats are welcome to attend.

New Britain Primary Results (20%)

US Senate:  Chris Murphy 2,136 (68%); Susan Bysiewicz 1,005 (32%)

US House: Chris Donovan  1,260 (42%); Elizabeth Esty 936 (32%); Dan Roberti 788 (26%)

Congratulations to Senate Nominee Chris Murphy and House Nominee Elizabeth Esty in the 5th Congressional District.

From Team Murphy:  Get To The “Debate” Tuesday 8/21, at Polish National Home

Linda McMahon’s televised saturation campaign of lies against Chris Murphy, her refusal to meet with editorial boards and her debate-delaying tactics got a quick response from Team Murphy last week.

There will be a debate with or without the Republican Lady hiding behind the trash-talk advertising this week. And New Britain Democrats and friends are urged to attend the first Senate debate/rally of the fall campaign on Tuesday, August 21st starting at 5:30 pm at Hartford’s Polish National Home, 60 Charter Oak Avenue.

From Team Murphy: “As some of you may have seen, we challenged Linda to a debate about jobs on Wednesday morning. We went out and booked halls all over CT telling her we’d meet her anywhere. Not surprisingly she declined because she knows her jobs “plan” gives her and people like her a $7 million tax cut and cuts services and programs regular people rely on.

To make the point that she is afraid to debate Chris on the #1 issue of this campaign, we’re having a “debate” anyway at one of the places we booked and are turning it into a rally.  Linda has spent nearly $2 million on TV alone in the past two weeks blasting Chris with attack ads. That’s more than Chris’ 2010 Republican opponent spent on his entire campaign. The only way we beat her this November is to beat her on the ground at the grassroots level.”

Let’s have a strong New Britain contingent on debate night

Campaign Reception For State Rep. Tercyak Thursday, 8/23

Tercyak 2012 — the re-election committee for State Rep. Peter Tercyak — will hold a campaign fundraiser on Thursday, August 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Whinstone Tavern, 245 Hartford Road, New Britain. Tercyak, along with entire  New Britain legislative delegation, is participating in the Citizen Elections Program.  Individual donations are sought starting at $5 with a limit of $100. Under CT’s campaign reform law, state representative candidate must secure 150 donations from their town and raise no more than $5,000.

Dozynki Time:  Saturday and Sunday August 25th and August 26th

The city’s Polish heritage and cuisine will be everywhere on August 25th and August 26th at the 32nd Dozynki Polish Harvest Festival at New Britain’s Falcon Field, off Farmington Avenue.

Congratulations to the Polish Business Association led by Attorney Adrian Baron of Podorowsky Thompson and Baron. The group, which organized the recent Little Poland Day on Broad Street, is planning to register voters at this year’s festival.  The group will also have life-size cutouts of President Obama and the party opposite’s candidate to get your photo with your candidate.  Enjoy the festival and visit the Polish Business Association at this year’s Dozynki!

Good Food and Politics: Black Democratic Club’s 2012 Soul Food Fest
