July 12 DTC Meeting: Voter Registration, GOTV On The Agenda
The Town Committee will meet Thursday, July 12th, at 7 p.m. at New Britain City Hall, 27 West Main Street in Room 504.
A voter registration drive and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) activities will be discussed.
The DTC has formed a voter registration committee to increase Democratic enrollment ahead of the Primary and November Election. All Democrats are welcome to participate and attend the meeting.
Voter Registration Deadlines
The deadline for individuals to register to vote for the August 14th Primary is August 9th. Unaffiliated voters may register as Democrats to participate in the primary no later than August 13th.
The mail-in/hand-delivered deadline for new voter registrations for the November 6th Presidential election is Tuesday, October 23rd.

Three Up, Three Down: New Voting Map In Effect For August 14th Primary
The city’s political map for the next ten years will take effect starting with the August 14th Primary with the elimination of three polling places and the addition of three new ones.
Eliminated as polling places are the First Church on Corbin Avenue (District 10), Transfiguration Church (District 12) and CCSU/Welte Hall (District 9). Added are Slade School (District 15), Chamberlain (District 9) and Saint Francis Church Hall (District 10).
Karen Strumskas of the Democratic Registrars’ office said that voters are being notified of changes in where they vote in some sections of the city ahead of the Primary voting and the November 6th Presidential Election.
Redistricting for Congressional and state legislative districts was completed last winter based on the 2010 U.S. Census. The Common Council and Registrars finalized council district lines and polling places in June.

Ward One: Vance Academy – 1; New Britain High School – 2; Slade School 15
Ward Two: Roosevelt School-3; Armory – 6; Chamberlain – 9
Ward Three: Senior Center 5; School Apts – 5-1; Graham Apts – 5-2; Generale Ameglio – 7; Smalley Academy – 8
Ward Four: Saint Francis Church – 10; Holmes School – 11; HRA – 13
Ward Five: Gaffney School -5; Pulaski School – 12; DiLoreto School- 14
