NB Dems To Endorse For Two House Seats, Registrar Tuesday, May 29th

A month of political conventions and endorsement meetings for New Britain Democrats will conclude on Tuesday, May 29th when the Democratic Town Committee will meet to endorse candidates for two state House seats  and Registrar of Voters.

The endorsement meeting will be held at New Britain City Hall, Room 504, 27 West Main Street at 7 p.m.  

State Representative Bobby Sanchez, a human services and early childhood professional,  is seeking his first full term in the 25th district and State Representative Peter Tercyak, the Chairman of the Human Services committee who has served in the Legislature since 2003, will seek re-election to the 26th district. 

DTC members will also endorse a new candidate for Registrar of Voters.  

Incumbent Edward “Butch” Dzwonkowski is not expected to seek re-election to a four-year term. 

Juan Verdu, a former Board of Education President, is seeking the Democratic endorsement for Registrar.   The Committee will also endorse a slate of candidates for Justice of the Peace for the four-year term that begins in January.

At multi-town conventions this week  delegates unanimously endorsed State Senator Terry Gerratana for State Senate in the 6th district, 22nd District State Representative Betty Boukus of Plainville and 24th State Representative Rick Lopes. Lopes is seeking his first full term for the district after winning a special election in January.

Delegates from Newington and New Britain gathered at Great Taste Restaurant on May 22nd to endorse State Rep. Rick Lopes. Governor Dannell Malloy, dining at the New Britain restaurant, stopped in to speak and endorse Lopes. From left Lopes, Greg Gerratana (standing), Lopes’ Committee Treasurer Dena Fleno and Council Majority Leader Suzanne Bielinski who chaired the convention.
