New Britain’s State House Districts Remain Largely The Same But 22nd, 24th Swap Gaffney and First Church

The state Redistricting Commission has re-drawn the lines for all General Assembly districts that will take effect in 2012. The new boundaries appear to conform to the existing  ones for state Representative seats, including a portion of the 22nd near Plainville. The 24th District is split between New Britain and Newington and the 25th and 26th Districts that fall within the city’s borders. However, there is a significant shift between the 22nd and 24th districts where the Gaffney School area (District 4) went to the 22nd and First Church (District 10) switched to the 24th from the 26th.
