New Britain Democrat Rx for Victory: Sing “Put The Car In D”, Enjoy The Pasta Dinner, Meet the Candidates and Help Get Out The Vote: Halloween Rally 1 to 4 p.m.
A Democratic rally and pasta dinner will be held Sunday, October 31st with Gubernatorial Nominee Dan Malloy and the Democratic slate of candidates on hand to urge the highest possible turnout of voters in the New Britain area on Tuesday.
The rally and dinner will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall, 41 Veterans Drive and will include a pasta dinner, music, games for children and the candidates. Guitarist/Singer Bill Collins will lead the gathering in his newly-minted song “Put the Car in D” that is a rallying cry for Democrats in the 2010 midterm election.
The rally is sponsored by the city’s legislative delegation campaign committees, including State Senator Don DeFronzo State Representatives John Geragosian, Peter Tercyak, Betty Boukus and Tim O’Brien. Organizers are being ably assisted with the help of State Senator Joe Harper and Marilyn Katz Harper.
From The Chair: It’s Time To Vote and Help Get Out the Vote.
CALLING ALL DEMOCRATS
Activities to promote voter participation in Tuesday’s election will be continuous until the polls close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
A strong turnout is the best antidote to the shallow and gutter politics of New Britain Republicans in this 2010 election. There they go again!
If you can help now or on Tuesday please contact the New Britain campaign to drive people to the polls, call neighbors, Stand for Dan and Row B at polling places and distribute literature.

While economic issues are number one in every voter’s mind this election, we cannot lose sight of how deeply out of touch Caligiuri’s approach to social issues is from the vast majority of people across the 5th District. He favors laws that would criminalize abortion and is opposed to equal rights for gay couples.
At the same time, Caligiuri’s approach to the economy is simplistic, and except for a strong call for more government spending cuts, which we whole-heartedly embrace, he is basically calling for a complete return to Bush era policies.
Chris Murphy’s approach and record over the past four years has been tailored more to the needs of the district he represents, more in tune with emergency economic conditions that needed to be addressed through some kind of stimulus action, and more forward-thinking in attempting to fix some of the problems that have been festering in our country for a long time.
We urge voters in Northwest Connecticut to return Chris Murphy to Washington on Nov. 2 so he can continue what has been a responsible, and responsive, tenure as our representative to Congress.
We urge Chris Murphy on Nov. 3 to wake up with a much firmer mindset of “district and country first, party last.”
