Murphy Takes On Anonymously Funded Attacks From Karl Rove Group; Big Turnout At Pulaski Dem Club
Cong. Chris Murphy (D-5) appeared at the Pulaski Democratic Club Friday October 15th to denounce an anonymously funded TV ad campaign intended to benefit Murphy’s GOP challenger.
A Murphy statement said: “A conservative special interest group based out of DC that has ties to Karl Rove and the Bush family has launched a nearly $1 million ad campaign against Chris that, among other things, accuses him of giving Viagra to sex offenders. The ad is currently running on TV. Clearly, we can’t let this kind of nonsense stand. We’re asking elected officials, friends and supporters who have stood with Chris to come stand with him once more as he denounces this misleading attack ad funded by the special interests.

The Murphy retort to the anonymously funded ad buy against him drew a large crowd of supporters. The ad appears to be a one-size-fits-all being used by the GOP’s extreme right-wing to attack Democratic office holders around the country.
Urban Oaks To Hold Harvest Moon Festival, 10/23
A “Harvest Moon Festival” will be held at Urban Oaks Farm, 225 Oak Street, on Saturday, October 23rd, from noon to 8 p.m. to both celebrate and raise awareness of New Britain’s organic farm near the center of the city.
The free event will include a farmers’s market with produce from the farm and other CT farms, entertainment and vendors with food and drink for participants. Tours of the farm will be offered.
Urban Oaks Farm, located at the former Sandelli Florist property, was founded by Mike Kandefer and the late Tony Norris. It has won over fine restaurants and organic food enthusiasts for its heirloom herbs and other organic crops. Neighbors and community leaders have credited the farm as a positive force in the neighborhood through its nonprofit educational program and a stable enterprise against blight.
