Reception For West Hartford’s McCluskey on Wednesday, June 23rd
A fundraiser sponsored by West Hartford’s 6th District Town Committee will be held Wednesday, June 23, 5-7 pm for State Rep. David McCluskey, who represents the 20th assembly district and serves as a Deputy Speaker in the CT House. Hosts for the event are Barbara and John Vercelli, 100 Davenport Road, West Hartford. Rep. McCluskey, who served on the DTC when he resided in New Britain, is seeking to qualify his campaign for the Citizen’s Election Program with individual contributions of choice welcome to $100 to the McCluskey for State Representative Committee.
McCluskey is a strong advocate of using public transit for economic development purposes and one of the most knowledgeable members of the state Legislature on transportation issues.
This past week he released a letter to Gov Rell calling upon the administration to ensure that freight rail needs are not forgotten as Connecticut invests public dollars in the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHS) passenger service line. McCluskey asked Rell’s office to make sure that the line is upgraded to also handle the national freight rail standards. “Throughout the country, states and national rail companies are upgrading rail lines to move freight faster and cheaper. Connecticut must not become isolated from the national freight rail system.”
McCluskey was first elected from his West Hartford district in 1998.
